The C.D. Howe Institute is pleased to announce its 2023 Regent Debate.  We will debate the following resolution: “Be it Resolved: Competition will save Canada’s Broken Healthcare System.”

As our healthcare system cracks under the overlapping pressures of an aging population, surgical backlogs, staffing shortages, and the lingering effects of the pandemic, is now the time for greater private sector involvement?  What reforms are required?  How do we build a healthcare system that is affordable, accessible and reliable?
